Three days is the right amount of time for a first visit: enough to see the river, the ghats and the hills without rushing. Here’s the plan we suggest to guests at Alpine Retreat in Tapovan.
Day 1: arrive, Laxman Jhula and the aarti
Check in from 1 PM and have lunch in our restaurant. In the late afternoon walk down to Laxman Jhula, browse the lanes and cafés, and continue to Parmarth Niketan for the evening Ganga aarti. An evening in Tapovan has the details.
Day 2: river or mat
Choose your pace. Adventurous? Spend the morning rafting on the Ganga (in season). Prefer calm? Take a morning class at one of Tapovan’s yoga schools (how to choose). In the afternoon, visit the Beatles Ashram and walk back along the river.
Day 3: into the hills
Leave early for Neelkanth Mahadev Temple in the forest above Rishikesh, or take a longer day trip to Kunjapuri for the sunrise over the Himalaya. Be back for a last dinner on the balcony.
Before you go
- Check the season first: when to visit Rishikesh.
- How to get here by road, rail or air: getting to Tapovan.
- Staying longer? Add Kedarnath, Badrinath or the Valley of Flowers from our Uttarakhand packages.
Send us your dates on WhatsApp and we’ll help you plan the rest.
