Rishikesh sits right where the Ganga leaves the mountains, and the hills of Garhwal begin just behind our rooms in Tapovan. Here are the trips our guests ask about most, from easy weekends to week-long treks.
Chopta, Tungnath and Chandrashila (3–4 days)
The easiest way to stand among big Himalayan peaks. A short but steep trek from Chopta reaches Tungnath, the highest of the Panch Kedar temples, and continues to the Chandrashila summit for a sunrise view over Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. Best from March to June and September to December. See the Chopta–Tungnath package.
Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib (6 days)
A UNESCO World Heritage valley that bursts into bloom in the monsoon, paired with the high glacial lake of Hemkund Sahib. The park is open June to October; July to mid-September is peak bloom. See the Valley of Flowers package.
Auli (5 days)
Snow and beginner skiing from December to March, green meadows in spring, and views of Nanda Devi all year. See the Auli Snow Holiday.
Mussoorie and Dhanaulti (4 days)
The easy family option: Mall Road, Kempty Falls and the deodar forests of Dhanaulti, a couple of hours from Rishikesh. See the Mussoorie & Dhanaulti package.
Har Ki Dun (7 days)
A classic trek through old wooden villages to a valley beneath Swargarohini, starting from Sankri. Best in April to June and September to November. See the Har Ki Dun trek.
The pilgrim routes
Kedarnath, Badrinath and the full Char Dham Yatra also start from Rishikesh. Our Char Dham planning guide covers the season, route and registration.
Not sure which to choose? Tell us your dates and group on the packages page and we’ll build a trip around you, with a night at Alpine Retreat at either end. And for your first evening back in town, here’s our Tapovan evening plan.
